Indiana's Weather For Tuesday

November 26, 2013 by Paul Poteet

Two days until Thanksgiving, and two days until the weather improves. Clouds will be thick today and tomorrow, and central Indiana remains sandwiched between a big rain and snow maker in the east and southeast today, and heavy Lake effect snow near South Bend tomorrow. I expect there will be Airport delays in Atlanta up through Charlotte by afternoon. Expect delays around New York by this evening through tomorrow. Atlanta’s outlook improves quickly Wednesday. A fresh shot of cold air (who needed THAT?) arrives with a surface cold front this afternoon, and I think that should generate some flurries. Meanwhile, around Richmond: you may be close enough to the Eastern storm to be on the back edge of an afternoon dusting of snow. The big storm to the east pulls farther of the coastline tomorrow, leaving up to a foot of snow behind in parts of Pennsylvania and upstate New York. Our Indiana attention will shift to a Lake Effect circulation that should set up late tonight. Warnings are already in place around LaPorte county, just west of South Bend, where up to a foot could fall by late Wednesday. The strong counter-clockwise circulation around that Northeast low pressure system should funnel a flow right over Lake Michigan that sends at least some accumulating snow down as far south as Tippecanoe, Carroll, and Howard counties Wednesday. If you have Thanksgiving travel plans from Lafayette to Kokomo northward, extra time is on the menu,. The sun will return for your feast Thursday, and it looks slightly milder by the weekend. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 47 and the average low is 31. Records are 70 and 3. The sun rises at 7:42 and it sets at 5:23. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 33. My forecast was 35. DETAILED INDIANAPOLIS FORECAST: Today: Mostly cloudy. Flurries possible. High 36. Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with flurries possible. Low 20.    Wednesday: Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy. Chance of flurries and snow showers, especially Indy north, where a dusting is possible. High 30.    Wednesday Night: Becoming partly cloudy. Low 19.    Thanksgiving Day: Partly sunny. High 33. Thursday Night: Mostly clear. Low 23.    Friday: Mostly sunny. High 40. Friday Night: Partly cloudy. Low 27.    Saturday: Partly cloudy. High 43.    Saturday Night: Partly cloudy. Low 32.    Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. High 42.    Sunday Night: Chance of showers. Low 34.    Monday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. High 44.]]>
