A blue sky again today, and the temps get more seasonable, if not reasonable. Take yesterday, and add about ten degrees. That means almost 50 in Indy, and the low 50’s in Terre Haute and Bloomington. Muncie, Richmond and Lafayette should all easily make the upper 40s. There will a breezy southwest wind that could gust up to 30 mph in the midday and afternoon. Quiet weather, and a slow warming trend through tomorrow, courtesy of the Arctic High pressure system that moves from the southeast USA off the Atlantic coast Friday. The main weather player by Saturday shifts from that high to a strong low pressure system in the Plains. It will bring gusty, warmer winds throughout the weekend. Both days will feature above average temperatures. Highs will be around 60 Saturday and into the mid to upper 60s Sunday. Rain chances will begin Saturday afternoon and get large Saturday night and Sunday morning. Precip could pause for awhile Sunday until the surface cold front arrives in the the late afternoon and evening, possibly with thunder. Computer projections point to about three-quarters of an inch of rain before the cold front passes late Sunday evening. It might be closer to an inch in Lafayette and Muncie. Temps Monday should begin in the 40s, but fall through the 30s by afternoon. A few sprinkles or flurries are possible, but this time it’s not looming large. The shot of cold air also looks a little less intense that what we got this week. Nevertheless, it will be colder than average the first half of next week. I don’t see any big storms next work week – maybe some rain by the weekend. The Climate Prediction Center expects the cooler than average weather to continue here through at least Thanksgiving.
