A light coating of snow as Tuesday begins, and you’ll need a coat all day. The two-pronged push of Winter isn’t finished yet. Wind chills are in the teens this morning and won’t get out of the 20s this afternoon. Blame Canada! A wind out of the north will blow from 10-15 mph, and could gust to 25 mph. Lows tonight will touch the teens outside of Indy, especially to the west, where the coldest air will be centered. Most reports I’ve gotten point to a quarter to half-inch of snow, with around three-quarters of an inch around Lafayette. Some melted quickly, especially on pavement. The Lake Effect machine is still cranked in northern Indiana, where up to 7 inches may fall just west of South Bend. That may filter flurries and snow showers into places like Lafayette to Kokomo to Muncie. The sky will clear statewide tonight, setting the stage for the frigid start in Wednesday. The large Arctic high pressure system will slowly but surely move east of us, and the winds rotating around it in a clockwise fashion will shift our breeze to the southwest tomorrow. By Thursday and Friday the highs will be back in the 40s. A few showers are possible Friday, and it will be warmer and windier this weekend, nearing 60 degrees by Sunday. There are more shower chances Saturday Night and Sunday. I think showers and thunderstorms are likely Monday before another Canadian Invasion Tuesday. As Angela Wright put it on Facebook this morning (regarding my 7 Day Forecast): “That is some crazy looking wild ride of weather.” INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 54 and the average low is 37.
