Some drizzle, fog, and scattered showers today set the stage for a wet and wild Halloween. A warm front moves north across Indiana and should allow temps back into the mid and upper 60s. That will be the warmest it has been since October 15 – which, by the way, is the last time the average daily temperature was above normal. The stage is set for fireworks Thursday. (I know – wrong holiday.) Deep moisture from the Gulf Of Mexico will be streaming into the Ohio Valley on speedy winds just above the surface. Winds could gust up to 40 mph through the afternoon and evening. Winds over 60 mph are possible in the late afternoon and evening with severe thunderstorms. Those severe storms are most likely in the southern half of Indiana. The surface cold front will arrive Thursday during the early evening in Indiana. Expect a squall line in front of the front, and it is possible that a few tornadoes could spin up within or near that line. Rainfall totals by late Thursday night will be from one to inches across the state. The system should ride its broom out of the area by early Friday morning. The next weather maker is relatively small. An upper level wave should spark a few lighter showers – and plenty of clouds – in the north half of Indiana Saturday. The sun will be strong Sunday.
