Today will be the sixth consecutive day with above average highs across central Indiana. That’s about to change. Saturday morning showers soaked parts of the state with (from radar estimates) up to an inch of rain early. The area of rain will eventually move off to the northeast, but Muncie and Richmond could see showers through mid-morning. A hit and miss shower is possible at any time today, but the biggest chances won’t come until after about 2 or 3pm. Blame all this on a big time upper level low pressure system swaggering out of the Plains into the Great Lakes over the next couple of days. It’s keeping our weather unsettled in general. That low will pull a surface cold front through the state, and that could be a focal point for severe weather and heavy rainfall. That front’s progress continues to slow, and it now is not expected to arrive until late this evening. The Storm Prediction continues to indicate a slight risk for severe weather over much of the state this evening and east of Indianapolis Sunday morning. Up to two inches of rain may fall. After the front passes Sunday it will still be mostly cloudy, and there will still be shower chances, but the temps will be closer to normal. A reinforcing shot of cool air should hit Monday, with a mostly cloudy sky and a few spotty showers. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 69 and the average low is 48. Records are 87 and 31. Sunrise time is 7:45 and the sun sets at 7:21. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 82. My forecast was 86.]]>
