Busy weather weekend ahead, with Tropical Storm Karen threatening the Gulf and heavy snow coming to eastern Montana, Wyoming, and into the Dakotas and parts of Nebraska, where just last night tornadoes were sighted. The snow and the storms out West are centered around that will eventually drag a strong cold front through Indiana Saturday night. Until then, more very warm and muggy weather. There is a chance of scattered showers and storms today. Don’t cancel plans, but do double check the doppler before playing in the summer-like (partial) sunshine. Same story for Saturday morning and midday. Things change by Saturday mid afternoon. The chance for rain and storms will increase, and the Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the state in a slight risk category for severe weather. The most rain will probably fall Saturday night. Over an inch of precipitation is possible. Sunday finds the cold front just exiting the state in the morning, so I think there is still a chance of lingering showers for tailgaters. I doubt the roof will be open for the Colts game, with slight chances remaining through Sunday night. Temps will dip to nearly normal for a couple of days behind the front, but shoot right back into the 70s next work week. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 70 and the average low is 48.
