Ready or not, here comes the rain. It replaces fog as the biggest weather story today. Showers will be most widespread in the morning hours, and then the chance will gradually lift to the north and northeast part of the state by late afternoon and evening. You should be ok for walking the dog or going for a run after work this afternoon, especially in the Indy metro area. Double check the doppler first in Lafayette and Muncie. A free space on the weather wheel overnight into Friday. That will allow Friday highs to fly into the mid 80s, with still kind of a muggy feel to the air. Today’s rain is caused by a relatively weak disturbance in the upper atmosphere. This weekend’s water springs from a stronger surface cold front that is now expected to arrive Saturday night. The chance for showers and storms will be with us all weekend, but the most likely time for rain is Saturday Night into Sunday morning. Sorry, tailgaters. Precipitation projections put the Indy and Muncie areas right around an inch. Around three-quarters of an inch may fall in Lafayette and Richmond. Shower chances will diminish by Sunday night and next week starts off with blue skies and a day or two of normal temperatures before we start warming yet again.
