Today’s a copy-and-paste job from yesterday. Fog at first, followed by sunshine. The temperatures will be warmer in the afternoon, running about ten degrees above the average high for the first of October. It’ll be a bit breezier today. The highs will be in the upper 70s in Richmond and Muncie, and around 80 in Columbus and Indy. Highs will hit the low 80s in Bloomington, Terre Haute, Lafayette and Kokomo. High pressure over the eastern United States will dominate today. A weak upper atmosphere disturbance will move in from the south late tonight and tomorrow, bringing shower and storm chances. That system moves on to the northeast Friday, and then a strong surface cold front sweeps through Saturday. That translates to a pretty good storm chance Thursday, a small chance Friday, and a good chance again Saturday. The normal high temp for the first of October in Indy is 71, and it’s down to 60 by the end of the month. The normal low drops from 50 to 41 by Halloween time. Temperatures for September 2013 went above average, and precip was a little below. Indianapolis ended up with 2.86 inches. Almost all of that fell on three days: September 19, 20, and 29. In Lafayette the monthly rain total was actually 1.27 inches above average, with 3.93 inches total. Muncie was also above average, with 3.79 inches total. Bloomington – like Indy – was below average, with only 1.86 inches of rain in September. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 71 and the average low is 50. Records are 89 and 32. The sun rises at 7:42 and the sun sets at 7:27. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 72. My forecast was 75.
