Astronomical Fall begins today at 4:44 PM. Meteorological Fall began the first of the month. You may have an entirely different definition. So far: Meteorological Fall has definitely been warmer than average, thanks to a week of highs in the mid 80s to mid 90s that ended September 12. We got into the 80s again a few days last week, but we’ll be lucky to hit 70 today. Highs will range from the mid 60s in Richmond and Muncie, to the upper 60s in Lafayette and Indy, to a little above 70 in Terre Haute and Bloomington. The average high temperature at Indianapolis for the Autumnal Equinox is 75 degrees. The warmest temperature ever recorded on the Equinox is 93 degrees, in 1895. The coldest is 34 degrees, last reached in 1995. The most rainfall is 2.11 inches, in 1955. No rain here for awhile. A weak system will pass to the south of us Tuesday night and Wednesday and will bring a few more clouds. A cold front should slice through the state and bring unsettled weather back next Saturday. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 75 and the average low is 53. Records are 93 and 37. The sun rises at 7:33 and it sets at 7:42. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 73.
