Indiana's Weather For Tuesday

September 17, 2013 by Paul Poteet

Tuesday begins with a chill in the air, but ends with much more sunshine than you saw yesterday, helping temps to get out of the 60s. Yesterday’s forecast fail sprung from optimistic cloud projections. The stubborn stratocumulus blocked central Indiana’s sun much of the day, keeping temps down. Muncie only made it to 63, and Lafayette to 67. Both places will crack the 70s today with a brighter sky. The high will be 72 in Richmond and 75 in Indy. We’re a little below average today, but the second half of the week is all above normal. The push of warmer and more humid air arriving late tonight might help to trigger a few showers and storms in the early part of Wednesday. Thursday will be the warmest day of the week, with a few scattered storms possible in the heat and humidity of the afternoon. The best chance for rain remains Friday, with a cold front coming. Current projections give us the chance of one-half to three-quarters of an inch of rain, with as much as an inch in the southeastern third of the state. Right now Indy is running about three-quarters of an inch behind for the year. The weekend looks to be in fine Fall shape, fitting for the arrival of Autumn Sunday afternoon. The latest 8-14 day outlook promises temperatures much above normal through the end of the month, and precipitation also above average INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 77 and the average low is 56. Records are 93 and 40. The sunrise time is 7:28 and the sun sets at 7:50. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 69. My forecast was 73. DETAILED INDIANAPOLIS FORECAST: Today: Mostly to partly sunny. High 75. Tonight: Clouds increase, with a slight shower/storm chance after midnight. Low 58.    Wednesday: Slight shower/storm chance, mainly in the morning. Then…partly sunny and more humid. High 81.    Wednesday Night: Slight shower/storm chance. Humidity increases. Low 65.    Thursday: Partly sunny with slight shower and storm chances. High 86. Thursday Night: Shower/storm chance. Low 68.    Friday: Scattered showers and storms. High 83.    Friday Night: Shower/storm chance. Low 58.    Saturday: Partly sunny. High 75.    Saturday Night: Mostly clear. Low 53.    Sunday: Mostly sunny. High 75.    Sunday Night: Mostly clear. Low 53.    Monday: Mostly sunny. High 77. ]]>
