The large crowd set to enjoy Friday’s Symphony On The Prairie concert featuring Beatles music faced a Hard Days Night Of Weather. Officials evacuated twice due to lightning concerns. The show was eventually cancelled, along with the football game between Fishers & HSE. The game is scheduled now for 10am today, which should be a safer bet. Rain checks will be honored at the Symphony shows tonight and tomorrow. There are storm chances for both events. Stay safe, listen for official updates, and Let It Be. Severe weather is not expected today or tomorrow, but it won’t take much to cook up strong storms out of the soup we’re in ’til Labor Day. Heat Index numbers this afternoon will be in the mid to upper 90s. Radar indicates last night’s scattered storms produced in excess of an inch of rain. Just a trace fell at the Indianapolis Airport, so the streak of days with no measurable precipitation now hits three weeks. Lafayette’s rain total was .35″ and Muncie received .07″ Friday night. The current streak of 90-degree days at the Indy Airport stands at five. This is the longest stretch of 90-degree days for so late in the season since the 5-day streak experienced August 28–September 1, 2010. Maximum temperatures that year were higher…peaking at 96. Our hottest so far has been 94, and we’re unlikely to top that this weekend. I still expect improvement Monday. A cold front sweeps through early, followed by decreasing clouds, humidity, and temperatures. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 83 and the average low is 62. Records are 97 and 44.
