Pace yourself this afternoon. The heat index numbers for central Indiana will max out between 95 and 100 today. That’s not quite enough for an official advisory, but still enough to notice. Yesterday’s high of 93 in Indy was the 7th 90+ day of the year, and it tied for the warmest day of the summer. The highest last year in Indy was 105. Lafayette’s Tuesday high was 91 and it was 92 in Muncie. Muncie and Richmond have a chance of seeing a stray storm pop this afternoon. They are closer to some upper air support that could combine with today’s passing cold front. COLD FRONT? Yep, there is one coming today, but there’s little effect for you beyond a wind shift. It will be a couple degrees “cooler” tomorrow. The heat holds through Labor Day. A frontal system will push through by Monday. There are shower and storm chances Saturday. It would be quiet Saturday night, and then storm chances should return Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 83 and the average low is 63. Records are 96 and 43. The sun rises at 7:10 and sets at 8:22. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 93. My forecast was 91. DETAILED INDIANAPOLIS FORECAST: Today: Partly sunny. High 92.
