The temperatures are big and the storm chances small through Labor Day Weekend. Highs today will be similar or just slightly warmer than yesterday, and the humidity will also be a notch higher.
The 90 degree mark was reached in Evansville and Indianapolis yesterday, and exceeded in Lafayette, where the high was 91. Muncie made it to 88. The high was 89 in Bloomington and Shelbyville. It was the first 90 degree day in over a month. Could this be our first above average temperature month since May? It would be close. We’re still a degree below average for the month, with only five days to make up the slack.
While we’re counting: it’s the 18th consecutive day with no official rain at the Indy Airport. There could be showers and storms tonight and early Wednesday morning in Muncie and Richmond. They would catch the southern sparks of the “Ring Of Fire.” That’s the big dome of high pressure in the center of the USA. (I explain why the storms form that way, and show you two different rain projections for tonight in today’s STAR weather video.)
I think the storms will stay north and east of Indy tonight, but I have added a slight chance statewide Saturday night and Sunday, with the possibility of a frontal system in the area. The overall hot pattern, however, will hold through the holiday.
