Today’s heat will be similar to yesterday, and the humidity will be a little higher. Did it seem hot Tuesday? It was officially the warmest day since July 23rd, with an afternoon high of 88 in Indy, 87 in Bloomington, 86 in Lafayette, and 85 in Muncie. An upper level low meandered through the Midwest yesterday and will pull away to the east and northeast today. Yesterday it sparked some showers and storms in southern Indiana, including a half-inch of rain in Evansville. Since last night the radar’s been quiet. That system could produce a scattered shower or storm this afternoon in the area from to New Castle eastward, including Richmond. The best bet for rain remains the cold front coming tomorrow. It doesn’t appear we’ll see much more than about a quarter of an inch of precipitation in central Indiana. The chance will be slight by Thursday night, followed by a dip in the heat and humidity Friday into the weekend. Temps will still be at or above average, just not as hot as yesterday or today. The big heat, however, will return for the start of next week. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 84 and the average low is 64. Records are 100 and 47. The sun rises at 7:03 and it sets at 8:33.
