I ran the numbers – the air at 6am this morning at the Indy Airport is 24% less humid than it was Wednesday morning. The temperature is 10 degrees cooler than at the same time yesterday.
Credit a cold front now to the south of the state. That system slammed into the area with high winds and high water in some spots. Meteorologists from the Northern Indiana office of the Weather Service will be in Peru today, investigating wind damage there that some residents say resulted from a tornado. The Grissom Air Force Base noted a wind gust of 70 mph at 1:45pm. There was an 80mph gust in Blackford County, and a 64 mph was noted near Marion, in Grant County.
Lafayette got .51″ of rain, and .18″ of an inch fell in Muncie. Exactly a quarter of an inch fell in Bloomington. The wind gusted to 55 mph in North Terre Haute. Gusts around 50 mph were also reported in Tippecanoe and Howard counties.
No more rain for awhile. Fair weather clouds are likely for a few hours today, but otherwise it will be mostly clear through tomorrow. Humidity will start increasing again Sunday.
