It rained a little overnight in central Indiana, and a lot last night in Brown county. Radar indicates as much as four inches may have fallen near Story Indiana. Blame that spinning wheel in the atmosphere that’s been around since the weekend. That upper level low also means more non-traditional radar loops today. On Twitter @HMATTHIAS says “I’m really tired of seeing rain go east to west.” Sorry, but you will see it again. That low does move a bit today, which will put the rain bulls-eye to the north and northwest of Indy. Better rain chances in Lafayette than in Muncie or Richmond. That will keep the high to around 70 in Lafayette, while the mid 70s are likely in the eastern half of the state. The low does move farther away tomorrow, which should decrease rain chances and increase temperatures. But there’s nothing above average through the weekend. Also from Twitter, @djmciver notes: “Last July 4th was a high of 102, right?” Right! That was Indy’s high, and triple digit temps were common. This year’s Independence Day numbers will be a good 20 degrees cooler. And I mean good. One July 4th problem this year: rain chances. It now appears a new low could bring some scattered showers and storms on Thursday. The best chances will be from Indy eastward. INDY ALMANAC: Today’s average high is 85 and the average low is 66. Records are 99 and 50. The sunrise time is 6:21 and the sun sets at 9:17. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 72. My forecast was 76.
