Milder temps for Valentine’s Day, but the heat doesn’t last. Better be good to your loved one today — you’ll want somebody to keep you warm this weekend. The worst weather on a recent Valentine’s Day? Easy. Remember 2007? The largest snow event of the season struck Central Indiana on Feb. 12-14. The snow began the evening of Feb. 12, moving from the southwest to northeast across Central Indiana. The snow continued at Indianapolis for nearly 30 hours, and when it was all done, during the early-morning hours of Feb. 14, Indianapolis had received 8.5 inches of snow. Blowing and drifting of snow became problematic during the evening of Feb. 13 and during the early-morning hours of Feb. 14. Snowdrifts caused the most problems in the areas that received the most snow, mainly north of I-70. Lafayette had 17 inches and Muncie reported 11 inches. Nothing so dramatic here today, but the wind will pick up again, gusting to 35 mph. Arctic air arrives Friday with some snow showers, but little or no accumulation is expected. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 40 and the average low is 24. Records are 65 and -14. Sunrise time is 7:40 and the sun sets at 6:19. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 45.
