I may have as many items on my forecast list as you have on your Christmas list.
Fog.
Rain.
Wind.
Thunder.
Snow.
The fog is back this morning, along with our recently persistent clouds. I’m more optimistic about today’s sky, however. Should be some sun this afternoon and again Wednesday. Let’s skip to the exciting part.
Deep low pressure will move northeast from Oklahoma Wednesday night to central Illinois Thursday morning to north of Detroit by Friday morning. Areas to the north and west of the low’s path could get as much as a foot of snow.
Most of central Indiana will get rain (and possibly thunder) Wednesday night into Thursday morning, changing to snow by Thursday afternoon. Could be an inch from around Indy north/northwest-ward, but 2-4 inches are possible along Lake Michigan’s snow belt, primarily Thursday night into Friday morning as much colder winds move across the mild water.
Judging from the computer projections, about a half an inch of moisture is possible from this system, but again – most of it will be in the form of rain. What if were snow? That could easily translate to a five inch snow storm.
The last time I even can find a 4 inch+ snowfall in Indy is 4.4 inches on January 11….of 2011! I do NOT want to be on the streets the first time it “really” snows again around here.
