It’s not beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and it’s beginning to look like we may stay green through the big day. It doesn’t help to start the day in the mid 50s. That was the Indy temperature at midnight.
Most rainfall amounts yesterday were a quarter of an inch or less. We’re still behind for the month and year. Our next big chance to catch up will be the system arriving Wednesday evening. One computer model paints over a half-an-inch of rain over our area. The center of that system will pass over and just to the north of Indiana, so snow is not a big concern here.
It’s possible that big winds with the system could bring the first heavy Lake Effect Snow of the season to the South Bend area. It might finally snow in Chicago. They will set a record tomorrow for the latest first snowfall ever. They already smashed the record for longest period between accumulating snows.
