Rain’s the main thing in our Friday and weekend weather story. Chances are highest from two waves: today and tonight…and then again Sunday.
It won’t be as warm as it was last weekend, but temperatures will still be above average through Sunday. Cooler air wins the battle Monday morning and that will trigger a few snow showers. But that’ll happen. It’s December, already!
So far, only one snow event this season, a small burst that netted Indianapolis .2 inches. The season-to-date average would be 1.9 inches. BTW: Indianapolis has seen MORE snow this season than Chicago, which is on course to set record for longest period with no measurable snow. They tie it Sun at 280 days and might beat it Monday. They (like us) have a chance of snow Monday, but (like us) it looks to be a dusting at most.
No big storms next work week, but colder air does look to be the general story in the couple of weeks leading up to Christmas.
Most of central Indiana should see a half-inch to an inch of rainfall from now through Sunday.
COAST TO COAST:
Some like it hot, and they’ll be happy in the Happiest Place On Earth today. Disney World gets highs in the 80s. The trickiest weather is some freezing rain in Pennsylvania. The Cali coast is better, but it’s still storming in Seattle and Portland. Up to four inches of snow could fall through the weekend from the northern Rockies to the Upper Midwest.
INDY ALMANAC:
The average high today is 41 and the average low is 27. Records are 65 and -7. Sunrise time is 7:53 and the sun sets at 5:20.
PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION:
Yesterday’s high was 47. The forecast was 50.
