You’ll face a full Friday frontal assault when you step outside.
A (cold) frontal assault that brings a nasty northerly wind gusting to 25 mph, along with periods of showers. The rain chance should gradually fade from northwest to southeast through the afternoon and early evening.
Our five day stretch of above average high temperatures ended quickly with the arrival of that front. The midnight temperature in Indy was 70 degrees. The wind suddenly shifted from southwest to northwest. The temp fell to 53 by 1am. By 3am? All the way down to 48.
We could get a little above 50 today and tomorrow, but most of the 7 Day Forecast revolves around nighttime lows near freezing and daytime highs in the 40s. Today’s gusty wind will be around once more tomorrow.
THURSDAY HIGH TEMPS:
79 Evansville
79 Terre Haute
78 Bloomington
78 South Bend
77 Lafayette
77 Shelbyville
76 Indianapolis
76 Muncie
HURRICANE SANDY:
The storm is leaving a terrible trail through Cuba and The Bahamas. Cuban authorities say its the deadliest storm since Hurricane Dennis in 2005.
The early Friday center of the storm was about 15 miles east-southeast of Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas and 485 miles south-southeast of Charleston, S.C. It is moving northeast at 13 mph with maximum sustained winds near 80 mph.
A new tropical storm watch was issued early Friday for a section of the U.S. East Coast extending from Savannah, Ga., northward to North Carolina’s Outer Banks.
Forecasters are warning that Sandy will likely mix with a winter storm to create a monster storm in the eastern U.S. next week whose effects will be felt along the entire Atlantic Coast from Florida to Maine and inland to Ohio right around Halloween. Hence the term “Franken-storm.” I think the effects of that will stay to the east of Indiana.
WIKI POTEETIA:
The last time Indianapolis set a temperature record was August 9th. We tied the record high of 98 that day.
INDY ALMANAC:
The average high today is 62 and the average low is 42. Records are 82 and 20. The sunrise time is 8:08 and sunset comes at 6:50.
PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION:
