Welcome to the coldest weekend (so far) of the young Fall season. Chills start out around or even below Freezing Saturday morning, and won’t get past the 40’s this afternoon. An upper level wave tonight and early morning Sunday should spark enough clouds to keep your plants safe, but count on clearing Sunday afternoon. That clear sky will combine with a light wind Sunday night into Monday and the result is a Freeze Watch for the state. The Watch is from 2-9am Monday Morning.
Not that it wasn’t cold THIS morning. Evidence abounds on Twitter:)
RT @MissMandiF: Holy balls of cold outside okay Mr. weatherman I agreed upon Fall but said nothing about winter. Brrrrr ice on my windshield
It will be bright and brisk for the Classic Parade in Downtown Indy, with sunshine and chills in the upper 30s.
And it’s a big day for football:
RT @susanwagener: Hope it clears up for IU Homecoming game…
The answer is yes, although the morning sun will probably compete with middle and higher level clouds in the afternoon. But don’t pack the pancho for either the IU BSU, or Purdue games. The high in Bloomington today is 54. Muncie’s high is 51. Lafayette will just be peaking at 52 as their late afternoon game begins. Nowhere to go but down, especially at Soldier Field, where Notre Dame’s playing. The chill there will fall from the upper to middle 30s during the game.
Did seem like Friday went on for several days? The dreary day saw the Indianapolis temp fall from 63 at midnight to 41 by 11:59pm. That’s below average. And it won’t get that warm again until Tuesday. And THAT just lasts for a day.
Yesterday’s rain added another 1.03″ to the Indy total, and for today at least, the year-to-date deficit has been whittled down to exactly one inch!
