Plenty of changes today. Not so frosty and definitely not so sunny.
An area of low pressure moves in from the plains, dragging in a couple of periods of showers and maybe some thunder. The southwest part of the state is under a slight risk for severe weather today. A cold front approaches from the northwest tonight and then stalls out around here Wednesday. More storm chances, although I think the coverage will be just a bit less tomorrow. The rain should move out by Friday. One more slight chance Friday, then another nice Autumnal Weekend.
This will be the TWELFTH consecutive day with below normal temperatures. September will be the first month of 2012 will more below normal than above normal days.
Time to put on my old disk jockey clothes (mainly polyester) and spin some Records!
We’ve already done “driest June on record.” Would you like to go for “wettest August-September?” The current high water mark for Indy is 16.11 inches from 1989. This year is in 5th place (so far) at 13.23 inches since August 1. Three inches to go on our way to Number One, and we’re counting ’em down! Another inch or two is possible today and tomorrow.
WIKI-POTEETIA:
Just by itself last month was the 8th wettest August ever, with 6.51 inches recorded. And let’s not forget July, which went into the records books at the hottest ever.
