Labor Day’s long gone, but some Summer sticks around.
And I mean STICK. Humidity will stay high until a cold front moves through right around sunrise Thursday morning. Showers and storms will fire up in the unstable and moist air this afternoon and become more numerous tonight and overnight. Any of those storms could become severe.
Even though you can water your lawn starting this afternoon in Indy…do you need to? Weekend rains of up to three inches dented the drought some more. I’ve attached a map showing where the Isaac leftovers hit the hardest. Up to eight inches in Illinois and Missouri. Our Indianapolis rainfall year-to-date deficit going into Wednesday is 5.31 inches.
We’ll have yet another chance to Just Add Water Friday and Saturday. Another inch of total precip is possible from these two events.
It will also be cooler than average by Friday through the weekend. If we hit the forecast high of 90 today it will be the first time this month. It hasn’t happened since August 25th. But… it…happens. Especially this sticky summer:
MAY: 3 days
JUNE: 12 days
JULY: 28 (!) days
AUGUST: 8 days
TOTAL SO FAR: 51
RECORD: 58 (1983)
Think we’ll make it? Temps are toasty today in many parts of the country. It will exceed 100 degrees, with heat indices approaching 110, in South-Central portions of the country by tomorrow. Heat advisories stretch from Southeastern Kansas to Northern Louisiana and Western Mississippi.
INDY ALMANAC:
The average high today is 82 and the average low is 61. Records are 100 and 45. The sun rises at 7:17 and sets at 8:09.
PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION:
The actual high yesterday was 88. The forecast was 85.
UV INDEX:
7 (High.)
POLLEN COUNT:
It stays “high” through Friday, then drops a little to “medium-high” Saturday.
