Here is a visual plug for the annual POG 8k race in Morristown, coming up in two weeks from Saturday. I think it might be Poteet & SonS this year, if my youngest will cooperate. It’ll probably be hot, but it’s early in the morning. Just double digit temps. And something cold afterward.
“POG” stand for the late Paul Otis Goble, a runner who attended Butler University. Paul continued his running career throughout his life and coached cross-country and track at Morristown High School. Paul was also the Race Director of the Morristown 10K Run, which was one of the most respected and competitive events in the 70′s and 80′s. Paul passed away in 2000 while on a training run with his boys and girls team.
The course starts and finishes at Morristown High School, and actually turns around in the graveyard where Paul is buried. The event is an 8K where you can run or walk and is open to people of all ages and abilities.
