One week ago today the high was 83, and that was the last time the Indianapolis high was below 90. It’s also the last below average (overall) temperature day. The last one before THAT one was almost two weeks earlier.
Speaking of 90s, today will be the 18th day of 90+ this year. The average is 15. For the entire year. Do you remember the summer of ’83? That’s when we had the most…58 of ’em!
Our streak probably won’t stop until Monday of next week, but even then the high temperature will still be above average.
As far as storms: they could pop in the afternoon or evening today or on the Fourth, but it’s only a 20-30 percent chance. The slight chance Wednesday is mainly for the east half of the state. I don’t see any widspread stuff or severe weather happening, until that streak-stopping cold front moves through Sunday and Monday.
COULD-BE-WORSE DEPARTMENT:
My forecast for on the radio down in Evansville is 100 today. That would be SIXTH consecutive 100+ day along the river! There is a chance of 100+ temps through the weekend. The Evansville Regional Airport has a rain deficit that is now over 12 inches.
COULD-BE-WORSE DEPARTMENT, PART TWO:
Once a wildfire is suppressed, the hazards are not diminished, as flash flooding becomes a threat. Monsoon moisture will move into the Desert Southwest through the remainder of the week, as locally heavy rain is possible on the Fourth. As a result, a Flash Flood Watch has been issued for the burn scars in western and central New Mexico.
INDY ALMANAC:
The average high today is 85 and the average low is 66. Records are 100 and 49. The sunrise time is 6:22 and the sunset comes at 9:17.
UV INDEX:
10 (Very high.)
POLLEN COUNT:
Indianapolis stays “low-medium” through Friday.
