OK, a string of sunny icons was just too boring. So there are some weather wrinkles for tonight, but nothing huge. Temperatures are big today, running almost ten degrees above average. It will be the first day since a week ago yesterday with an 80-plus Indianapolis high temp.
We are halfway through the month, and so far that month has only featured two days with below normal numbers. The 8-14 day forecast takes us nearly to the end of May, and promises at least near to above-above average highs.
The precipitation outlook for the second half of May is average. So far this month there’s been 2.10″ of Indianapolis precipitation. That’s just slightly below the average of 2.28 inches. We also look ok year to date. The number there is 14.46 inches, compared to an average of 14.63 inches. So don’t feel too guilty about all the dry days in the 7 Day Forecast.
That weather wrinkle I mentioned earlier does concern the possibility of precipitation. A cold front moves through central Indiana overnight, and may produce a few showers and storms after midnight. All signs point to the potential precip moving outta Indy by morning drive Wednesday, and skies returning to sunshine by lunch time.
That same boundary returns as a warm front Friday, pulling in steamy air just in time for the weekend. Dew point temps will likely rise back in to the 60s during the day Friday.
Runners seem to be cursed. You’ll recall the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon was held with humidity. Same story this Saturday morning for the “Geist Half,” which your weather correspondent will be running. A muggy morning, and an even hotter high than the Mini. The maximum (Maxi?) temp by afternoon will be in the mid 80s. No rain chances right now, but there might still be some puddles behind Paul.
(I mean..from the sweating!)
