Clouds are clearing very slowly from the north this afternoon. It may be late afternoon before it becomes sunny in Bloomington for the Little 500. Purdue’s winning this weather battle. Sun’s been out in Lafayette since about 11am. Bottom line? Only mid 50s today for Indianapolis and IU country. Good news? No more rain.
It may have seemed like more, but Indianapolis only recorded .17 of an inch of rain last night and this morning. That light rain (like today’s clearing) was moving SLOWLY. The Airport reported rain or drizzle on and off from 6pm Friday through 5am Saturday.
We are not expecting frost tonight, but the next two nights will bring cold lows in the mid 30s. Your tulips are probably safe.
Indiana is definitely part of a big Weather Flip. The upper-level pattern will be bringing cooler, below average temperatures into the central and eastern U.S. over the next few days, along with a good amount of rain along the East Coast. Quite the change from the above average temperatures and dry conditions of the previous weeks The storm battered western U.S. will get a reprieve as temperatures warm to above average and the region dries out.
Big rains over Florida today. A low pressure system will morph into a “nor’easter” by tomorrow night near the New England coast, bringing nasty winds and heavy rains. Light to moderate snow is going to fall over southern Ontario and Quebec. Heavy snow is a threat to Western New York, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia Sunday night into Monday. A little too close for THIS Weatherman.
Meanwhile: June-like temps for southern Cali, Arizona, and New Mexico as a strong upper level ridge becomes established over this region for the weekend. The lower elevations could easily see temperatures into the 90s and around 100 with full sunshine. If you ran the Carmel Marathon or Race For The Cure this morning you are probably happy with the clouds and chills in the 30’s by comparison.
Or not:)
