Here comes a cold front, just in time for the weekend. The biggest threat for rain comes this afternoon and evening. Clouds may linger through Saturday morning but it should be dry.
That is welcome news for several big outdoor events. I’ve attached a couple of forecast charts with some details. The Race For The Cure and the Carmel Marathon both run Saturday morning, with “feels-like” temperatures starting around 35 at 8am and only near 43 by 11am. Certainly no comparisons to the mid and upper 80s earlier this week at the Boston Marathon. It will be dry, at least atmospherically. This Weatherman’s a warm front when he’s running. So maybe you don’t want to shake my hand on the Monon.
Nearby college towns skip the running shoes and go racing on wheels this weekend. If you are going to Purdue’s annual Gran Prix expect sunshine and a high of 57. Breaking Away to Bloomington? The Little 5 features partly sunny skies by Saturday afternoon, with a high of 59. Bikers can expect a north wind, probably around 10mph.
You probably won’t run or bike or go-kart through a lot of deep puddles. We’re only expecting a tenth to a quarter of an inch of precipitation over most of Central Indiana. Amounts could be just a bit higher closer to the Ohio RIver. No severe weather is expected in Indiana for awhile. Severe weather is limited to the corners of the country the next few days. It is first in the south/southeastern part of of Texas today, from around Houston and Austin down to Brownsville. Tomorrow the threat is from Orlando and Tampa down to Miami Florida. Two inches of rain is possible over much of the Sunshine State this weekend. Low pressure dominates the East Coast with 2-4 inches of rain this weekend, but most of that area IS in a drought, if you want to look at it with the rain gauge half full.
There is still a possibility of patchy frost north and northeast of Indy Saturday night, with lows around 34 in Lafayette, 35 in Muncie, and 36 in Anderson. Probably nothing worth covering your plants for. It will be a bit colder in northern Indiana, where South Bend will go to freezing late Saturday night.

A small break is coming. The count is “high” today, but drops just enough to be “medium-high” Saturday. It falls even more, but remains “medium-high” Sunday and Monday.
The average high today is 65 and the average low is 44. Records are 85 and 23. Sunrise is straight up 7:00 and the sun sets at 8:29.
