Highs will be about 20-25 above average all week. Double check the Doppler today, but then relax Tuesday, and most of Wednesday. Shower and storm symbols are on the 7 Day chart Thursday through Saturday, but you’ll still have some hours you can play in the March Madness.
Blame an upper level low for your wet sidewalk this morning. That low is easily found on early morning satellite shots, looking like a “comma head” in the Plains. It heads for Michigan today, and the Storm Prediction Center says it could provide enough spin for a few rotating storms. The South Bend area is just on the southern edge of a slight risk of severe weather this afternoon and early evening. That risk extends to the north into Michigan and back to Chicago and Milwaukee to the west.
Speaking of The Bend, the South Bend high Sunday of 69 was the warmest since October 25th, four and a half months ago. Lafayette’s Sunday high of 70 even paced all the Indiana major reporting stations, and was highest temperature in the books since last November 14th. Both cities will get even warmer this week.
So–Spring TFN? Yesterday on Twitter @katiemattnboys asked “@PaulPoteet do you think we will get another really bad cold snap this year? When to put boat in water?” I can’t promise you Winter’s over, or that I even have both oars in the water.
I do know that last March an inch and a half of snow fell on the 30th in Indy. But last winter was constantly horrible, right? Not so much in March. That was the biggest snow of that month. And by the way, it came exactly one week after a high of 75. Which came after consecutive highs of 78 and 74. Sometimes Winter is like Jason in those “Friday The 13th” movies.
