Did you remember to spring forward? Try not to lose sleep over it. Look at the bright side, literally: sunset this evening is suddenly 7:48 pm in Indy.
We apparently sprang (sprung?) forward one season also. Not much spread in Indiana highs today. About 64-68 border to border. Maybe you should put away the snow blower and get out the lawn mower. I see above average temperatures stretching forward for a couple of weeks. Happy St. Paddy’s Day!
In the shorter term, clouds will thicken late this afternoon. Shower chances start in the west half of the state tonight after sunset and spread all over the state overnight. Rain is likely Monday morning, with some lingering showers into Monday afternoon. A chance of showers remains in the northeast quarter of Indiana Monday night.
The big action this week? Go West, young reader. An active storm pattern over the western US will begin Sunday and last several days. By the end of the week, most of the west coast will have experienced periods of high winds, heavy rains, rough seas, and isolated flooding. The strongest stuff is expected to head south along the coast during the week, starting with the Pacific Northwest
There’s also a slight risk of severe weather today from Texas through Arkansas through Missouri. I do think we have a chance of thunder overnight tonight into Monday morning, but I don’t see any severe weather for Indiana this week. What I do see is a big upper ridge in the atmosphere that sets up over the eastern half of the country. It will help us get the biggest heat of the year, finally going above the top temp (so far) of 69.
