Mother Nature’s cracking the wind whip today, with gusts up to 35 mph from the west and northwest. Afternoon chills will be in the 20’s. Temps will sink into the mid 30’s by afternoon. Midday and afternoon temps haven’t been as cold since Valentines Day. Rain and snow showers are possible in the morning, and some snow showers are likely this afternoon, with a dusting possible north and northeast of Indy.
We’ve only had 6 days this month with below normal temps, and this shot of cold air won’t last long. Temps climb back above average Sunday with plenty of sun.
We’ve had 2.2 inches of February snow in Indy, and I don’t see us getting past 3 inches in Feb ’12. We are on track for the least-snowiest February since 2005, when 2.5 inches was recorded. In 1998 we only had .6 inches.
The snow scoreboard for the season stands at 9.1 inches. Normal would be 22.2 inches. Last year we had 33.6 inches at this point.
