Long distance information gave me Memphis, Tennessee as today’s destination for a sprawling arctic high pressure system. Clockwise air flow around that system yields west winds for Indiana today, and unfortunately, those winds still look to be a bit breezy, perhaps gusting around 20-25 mph. But sun should rule today, so we’ve got THAT going for us.
Highs around the state today include 28 in the Bend, and 29 in Lafayette, Muncie, and Anderson. It should be right around 30 in the Haute and Indy. Highs will hit 32 in Bloomington and Columbus, and 33 in Evansville.

Friday night’s snow added less than an inch to most totals from around Metro Indy. The season to date total is 7.4 inches. The average at this point is 19.5 inches, and 33.5 was the number at this point last year.
Snow WAS big in the northwest part of the state, with 11.5 inches falling near LaPorte, thanks to the Lake Effect Machine. South Bend saw 3.6 inches, but the season to date total of 45.2 inches is also lower than average there, and half the 97.8 (!) inch total of last year. How low is the snow? Lake Effect Powersports in Benton Harbor told South Bend’s abc57.com that they’ve sold about half the normal amount of sleds, and snowmobile sales are the lowest in at least 6 years.
Some snow returns to metro Indy Monday night. Neither drive time Monday will be affected, but snow chances will still be around Tuesday morning, before mixing with and changing to rain by Tuesday afternoon. This looks like another 1-2 inch threat, but – once again – it may melt quickly.
