TODAY:
Just when you thought it was safe to sleep, another round of noisy weather for the second time within a week. Once again temps will fall from overnight peaks. It was 52 degrees in Indy at 1am just before the rains came. And came. I’m looking at widespread reports of a third to a half an inch, and .97″ of an inch down in Sullivan. Rain quickly wiped the snow slate clean to the north. A Facebook friend from Tipton reported the 3 inches of Friday night snow was long gone.
Wind was the biggest factor in this edition of Late Night With Mother Nature. For the second time in two weeks there may have been tornadoes in Kentucky. Downed trees on power lines in Cloverdale and Greencastle were responsible for power outages over 3,000 Duke Energy customers. Early reports indicate a roof blown off a building and into the road, and more power lines down in Tell City Indiana. A house and turkey barn were reported damaged in Daviess county. Trees were also down in Knox county, and there was damage to a garage in Owen county. Hail was reported from the storm in Boone county. It was odd to look out the window in the middle of the night and see what little was left of the snow illuminated by lightning.
A Wind Advisory remains in place until 5pm for gusty breezes up to 45 mph behind the cold front. Temps will fall into the mid 30’s by the afternoon. Readings will be close to, or a little above average all week. The biggest weather of the week is already behind us, although there’s a chance of a little rain and/or snow starting Wednesday night into Thursday, and again on Friday night.
