A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is still in place for central Indiana until 1:00pm Friday.
Late morning snow showers put down about a half to three quarters of an inch of snow in central Indiana, the first round of a winter weather maker expected to bring final snow totals of around 2 inches across the Indy metro. Drier air that has eaten into the system to the southwest may keep the totals on the low side of the forecast ranges. Around 3 inches could accumulate near Lafayette, Kokomo, and Muncie. Amounts as high as 6-12 inches are possible in the Lake Michigan snow belt. Advisories and warnings continue into Friday.
The best chance for accumulating snow will be this evening from about 6pm to midnight, but the chance for snow showers, especially north and northeast of Indianapolis, will linger into Friday morning.
Winds will gust to 35 mph tonight and Friday. Blowing snow could be an issue later tonight into Friday morning. Once chills hit the single digits this evening in Indy they will likely stay there until Saturday afternoon.
