I jinxed myself the other day. I was blogging about a recent flat tire on my bike. So all of a sudden, after years of un-punctured, adequately-inflated driving… I got a flat tire on the way into work. Front passenger side. It didn’t take a long, long time to change, but you have to understand I have a bad habit of not allowing a lot of wiggle room in my morning schedule. So I attacked the lug nuts with a gusto I wouldn’t have had at, say, 3 *P*M.
I had a couple of flaky mechanical interactions today. Here’s number one: Our weather computer vendor has the weather office in a whirl, installing and configuring several new boxes that will debut with our new HD graphics/newscast this fall. Old equipment is sharing space with new equipment. I must have banged on a keyboard for a good 20-30 seconds before realizing that the PC that I was using wasn’t frozen, I was just typing away on a random un-connected unit.
The second flaky interaction actually made me laugh out loud, even though no one was around. I was calling up a website on the Blackberry and suddenly noticed that I had the smart phone to my ear while I was waiting on the website to load. Maybe I thought it would be one of those goofy MySpace pages that starts right away with music, and I didn’t want to miss a note. Oh well, at least the Phone is Smart.
