4:45 UPDATE: Watch canceled for central Indiana. Some rain and storms still expected this evening.
3:45 UPDATE: Tornado watch already canceled for all but east central Indiana.
A tornado watch is in place for much of eastern Indiana until 9pm. Storms have fired so far this afternoon Indianapolis southward, with pretty good downpours of rain, and small hail. More scattered storms are possible this afternoon, with rain and storms this evening linked to the actual cold front passage.
My new listeners of NewsTalk 95-3 Michiana’s News Channel woke to thunder today, as a frontal boundary that’s been hanging around the state made its final push northward. The northern part of Indiana has the best bet today for severe weather, but the entire state is in the Storm Prediction Center’s “slight risk” area. That’s a result of the cold front still to the west making its move. The biggest threat comes mid-afternoon through late evening. One to three inches of rain may fall. Because of the early morning storms, Flood Warnings were already in place in the South Bend area.
Behind the cold front, a pretty nice weekend. Temps will be just a little below average.
