A cold front stretches from west to east right across the heart of central Indiana as Wednesday begins, and its slow southward slog suggests slightly lower high temps for Indy northward today. We should lose another couple of degrees tomorrow, as the front makes it down to about Paducah. Then it realizes it’s in Paducah and immediately turns around. (Actually an upper wave will help drive it back north as a warm front, but I couldn’t resist.)
This all means a little less heat today and tomorrow, but still near or above average for most. And it’s just-plain-hot again by Friday as the aforementioned warm front moves north over the state.

The biggest storm chances the next several days will be in the afternoon and evening, and the best widespread rain and storm chances remains Saturday night into Sunday morning, and the clouds with that could hold temps under average for a day Sunday.
September starts with mostly near or above average temperatures for at least the first week. That appears to be the pattern for most of the month. Better then than above average in July!
