One more day of Isaac-inspired moisture brings periods of showers to Indy. The rain won’t be as heavy today, and by this evening it should be confined to places east and south of Indianapolis.
Sunday’s soakers made for Indy’s biggest calendar-day rainfall totals in almost a year. Over an inch and a half was recorded. That’s the most since more than two inches fell in one day on September 25, 2011. Some places in the northern half of the state have already have reached 3-4 inches for the weekend. Click here for a chart of rain totals through Sunday night.
Storm totals by tonight for most of central Indiana will range from 2-4 inches, but there will be higher amounts to the north.

I mentioned last week that remnants of tropical systems are known to produce brief, weak tornadoes.
My twitter feed started humming Saturday evening with reports of funnel clouds in the Downtown area. The National Weather Service office is now classifying this event as a tornado, based on video footage. The tornado was seen near 16th street and White River for 38 seconds at 6:41. No damage was reported or observed.
One year ago today the high hit 100 in Indianapolis, setting the record for today. The latest triple digit date on record in Indy is September 15. I don’t think we’re going there, but highs will be above average again tomorrow, and some sun works back into our mix. Shower and storm chances return Wednesday, and again Friday and Saturday.
