Hope you enjoyed another morning in the 60s, because that little break is toast after today.
The nonstop 90s are back until next weekend. Today will be the 35th 90+ day of the Summer of 2012 in Indianapolis. The average is 15 and the record is 58.
The latest national Drought Monitor shows 64 percent of the country is in some level of drought. Even with last week’s storms the Indy precipitation total holds at .77″ since the first of June. That’s roughly a tenth of what it should be. The Airport is 9 inches behind for the season. It will take about an average of an inch of rain weekly through the end of summer to get out of drought. It’s even worse in other spots. The year to date deficit in Evansville is over 13 inches. Showers have been more consistent in Northern Indiana, where the deficit in South Bend is “only” 3 inches.
There may be some scattered storms Sunday afternoon and evening around South Bend, but most of the state will be dru/
There are rain chances in the forecast almost daily in the coming work week. The chance is 30 percent Tuesday and Wednesday, then 40 percent Thursday, and 30 percent again on Friday.
