Summertime sunshine for much of your time off, with at least the prospect of precipitation looming large as the weekend ends. Does it get any better than this?
Humidity will start increasing a little Sunday morning, and clouds will start increasing a little Sunday afternoon. Rain chances return after midnight Sunday night. At the moment, it looks like 50-60 percent coverage on Monday into Tuesday morning and midday.
It’s a Knozone Action Day in Marion counties, as well as an Air Quality Alert Day in Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, Greene, Monroe, Owen, Hendricks and Boone counties.
I think it was the great 70s weather philosopher Roseanne Roseannadanna who said: “it’s always something.” Four years ago today Indiana was reeling from nine nasty days of anything but dry weather. Check out this 2008 recap:
May 30, 2008:
Three twisters…an EF-2 from Marion County into Hancock County, an EF-1 in Hancock County, and an EF-0 in Carroll County.
June 3, 2008:
Five twisters…an EF-3 from Shelby County into Rush County, an EF -2 from Brown County into Johnson County, EF-1 tornados from Greene County into Lawrence County as well as one in Decatur County. Also an EF-0 twister in Morgan County.
June 4, 2008:
An EF-0 twister in Green County.
June 6, 2008:
Severe storms bring 80 mph winds to parts of Central Indiana.
June 7, 2008:
Heavy rain the previous night into the morning, up to nearly 11 inches, creates major and record flooding across the area, with almost 11 inches measured in Edinburgh and almost 9 inches in Martinsville.
June 9, 2008:
Severe storms bring golf ball size hail, damaging winds, and more flooding rains.
Does June 9, 2012 look a little better to you now?
