Today should be the first day in Indianapolis above 75 degrees since the middle of the month that is about to end. April’s average temperature of 54.1 is 1.3 degrees above average. But March”s 56.6 was 14.4 degrees above average, so – for only the second time since 1872 – April will be cooler than March.
Monday starts with rain on the radar. Chances are with us all day, although they will diminish tonight. Storms Monday afternoon carry a slight risk of becoming severe, with large hail and damaging wind.
The storm chances are still around Tuesday, but the sun rules an entire day in the middle of the week. Wednesday will probably be the peak of the temperature week, but every day will be above average. The present record high for Wednesday is 87. We could get close. Humidity will surge into the area Wednesday through Friday. So lose the long sleeves for now.
Cold air is still hanging on in New England. Monday starts with Hard Freeze warnings in parts of PA and NY. Flash Flood Warnings and Watches stretch from central and southern Illinois down to the Oklahoma-Kansas border. Showers and storms in central Indiana could bring a half-inch to an inch total precipitation Monday through Tuesday.
