
In the summer of 1980 I took a girl to see “Airplane.” That was one great date, and the movie wasn’t bad either. I remember leaving the theater physically tired from laughing so much.
Peter Graves, who died yesterday, was part of an inspired casting tactic that also featured Lloyd Bridges, Robert Stack, and Leslie Nielsen. Graves had to be convinced Gladiator-Movie talk wouldn’t end his career. Surely it didn’t.
