...The National Weather Service in Indianapolis IN has issued a
Flood Warning for the following rivers in Indiana...
White River.
Eel River at Bowling Green.
.Significant and potentially major flooding is expected to develop
in the White River basin due to several rounds of heavy rainfall
through Sunday. The current forecast includes three to seven inches
of rain over 72 hours in the White basin, but does not include the
final round of heavy rainfall expected Saturday and Saturday night,
so crests will likely be higher than those currently forecast and
last longer.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Eel River at Bowling Green.
* WHEN...From Thursday afternoon until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, An unusual flood is in progress. Water
covers both lanes of SR 42 east of the Eel River. Many county
roads flood extensively. Flood water isolates some farm houses.
Water is near the top of most agricultural levees.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 2:30 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 5.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage Thursday
afternoon to a crest of 21.5 feet Saturday evening.
- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...White River at Petersburg.
* WHEN...From Friday morning until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 25.8 feet, Near major flooding in progress. During
the May 1990 flood, the town of Petersburg lost their main water
line at this level. This problem is believed to have been
corrected. Seven floods since May 1990 have reached this level.
Levees are monitored at this level. Numerous roads flooded. Flood
waters approach SR 56 near Bowman. Extensive flooding in Dodge
City.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 2:30 PM EDT Wednesday /1:30 PM CDT Wednesday/ the stage
was 10.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage Friday
morning to fluctuate around 25.5 from Monday on.
- Flood stage is 16.0 feet.

riverward side of the levee generally relocate. Many local roads
are completely impassable. Oil fields are inaccessible. The
remaining water pumps are installed on the west end of Hazleton.

afternoon to 26.0 feet Tuesday morning.

cabins. All farmland on the unprotected sides of levees floods.

- At 1:00 PM EDT Wednesday /12:00 PM CDT Wednesday/ the stage
was 9.8 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
Friday evening and continue rising to a crest of 23.9 feet
Tuesday morning.

* WHERE...White River at Newberry.
* WHEN...From late Friday night until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 23.0 feet, Water levels approach major flood. Homes
begin to flood in Daviess and Knox counties. Sandbagging of levee
protecting Elnora is necessary. Railroad tracks near Elnora
flood. A few houses in Newberry flood. High water affects homes
in Daviess and Knox counties. Water is at the top of levee at
Elnora and threatens about ten homes behind the levee.

- At 2:30 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 6.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
early Saturday morning and continue rising to a crest of 22.1
feet Monday morning.
