…Light snow across parts of the Southern Plains, Northeast, and
Cascades…
…Cold front ushers in cooler air across Southern states while northern
tier warms up…
…a Critical Risk of fire weather over parts of the western and southern
Texas on Saturday…
A front extending from the Western Gulf Coast eastward to the Southeast
will move eastward to the Southeast by Monday. The storm will produce
light snow over parts of the Southern Plains and showers and thunderstorms
from the Southern Plains to the Southeast through late Saturday night. On
Sunday, showers and thunderstorms extend from the Southern Plains to the
Southeast. The showers and thunderstorms will continue to move eastward to
the Southeast by Monday evening.
In addition, as the surface low moves out of Texas, gusty winds and warm
and dry surface conditions have prompted a Critical Risk of fire weather
to develop over Texas in the trans-Pecos and Middle Rio Grande Valley from
the remainder of Saturday into Sunday morning. On Sunday, there is an
Elevated Risk of fire weather over parts of the Lower/Middle Rio Grande
Valley.
Meanwhile, upper-level energy and associated upper-level trough over the
Northeast/Great Lakes will produce light snow over the Upper Great Lakes
to the Northeast through late Saturday night and light snow over the
Northeast on Sunday and Monday.
Moreover, upper-level ridging over the Plains will aid in creating
temperatures that are 10 to 25 degrees above average over parts of the
Northern/Central Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley. Cold air and clouds
will create temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average over parts of the
Southern Plains to the Southeast.
Furthermore, a front moving onshore over the Pacific Northwest Sunday into
Monday will produce coastal rain over parts of the Northwest on Saturday
afternoon into Sunday. As the front moves eastward over the Pacific
Northwest into the Northern Intermountain Region, on Sunday night, light
snow will develop over the Cascades and expand into the Northern
Intermountain Region on Monday.
