…Heavy snow across parts of Northern California/Pacific Northwest to the
Northern Rockies…
…There is a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall over parts of
Northern/Central California…
…Light to moderate snow from the Great Lakes to the Northeast and areas
of wintery mix from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania…
Upper-level energy and moisture from the Pacific will stream into parts of
the Northwest and California. A plume of moisture will stream into
Northern/Central California, producing heavy rain through Monday.
Therefore, the WPC has issued a Slight Risk (level 2/4) of excessive
rainfall over parts of Northern/Central California each day through Monday
evening. The associated heavy rain will create mainly localized areas of
flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, small streams, narrow
canyons/gullies, and burn scars the most vulnerable.
In addition, the moisture and energy will produce heavy snow over parts of
Northern California/Pacific Northwest into the Northern Rockies, likewise
through Monday. The heaviest snowfall totals will be near or above 48
inches in the Rockies.
Meanwhile, low pressure and associated front over parts of the Northern
Plains will move eastward to Southeastern Canada by Monday. By Saturday
evening, the system will produce light snow over parts of the Upper
Mississippi Valley/Upper Great Lakes. Rain will also develop over parts of
the Middle Mississippi Valley. By Sunday, along the rain/snow line,
pockets of rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of the Upper Midwest
into the Ohio Valley. By Sunday evening, snow and rain will move into the
Lower Great Lakes/Northeast along with pockets of rain/freezing rain over
the rain/snow line over parts of New York State and Pennsylvania.
Moreover, the light snow and rain will continue over parts of the
Northeast through Monday evening. Additionally, light snow will develop
over parts of the Northern High Plains to the Upper Great Lakes overnight
Sunday, tapering off by Monday morning.
