Via @NWSIndianapolis… Expect beautiful weather today if you have outdoor plans for Veterans Day. Cooler air will filter in tonight and into Tuesday which will drop temperatures to near normal for this time of year. Lastly, rain chances return midweek.
An upper trough and associated low pressure system pushing across the Midwest late Wednesday into early Thursday morning will lead to increasing rain chances. Large scale ascent and warm-moist advection supports the potential for widespread rainfall. Rainfall amounts of up to half an inch, with locally higher amounts possible. Thunder is unlikely. Temperatures should warm up Wednesday as southerly flow increases ahead of this system.
Surface high pressure builds back in on Thursday once the low pressure system departs promoting quiet weather conditions through Saturday. The cold air advection behind this system appears rather weak thus a significant cooldown is not expected. Highs on Thursday should be about 5 degrees cooler than Wednesday in the mid-upper 50s. Temperatures then begin to moderate slightly ahead of another system approaching late in the weekend. Drier air filtering into the region will lead to less cloud cover Thursday through Saturday.
