See those blue triangles? That’s a cold front that will push through Indiana today. As the front passes, winds will quickly shift towards the NW, and gust to 25 mph this afternoon. Along with the wind shift will be a moderation of temperatures closer to (but still above) normal for mid-late October. You’ll notice it tonight and tomorrow. Moisture content will rise along the frontal boundary, but will be insufficient for any precipitation. Still, the increase in mid-level moisture should result in scattered to broken cloud decks along and around the midlevel boundary.
Frosty Thursday morning, but overall: another pleasant fall day with cooler temperatures. Canadian high pressure is expected to settle across Indiana and Ohio. This will result in another sunny day.
Friday features a weak area of surface low pressure along with a cold front. Expect a few showers. A stray thunderstorm is possible. Not much rain!
SPEAKING OF RAIN…. (broadcast segue)…. The NWS Indianapolis reports that since Helene’s remnants in late September, Indianapolis has only observed measurable rain on 10/15 (0.07″). IND must receive at least 0.10″ in the next 10 days or this month will be the driest October in the 154-year record.
