The nearest clouds this morning are about 600 miles away, over the western Plains! Mister Weatherman’s morning map shows strong high pressure Indiana and Ohio, providing those clear skies, and a fine Fall weekend.
Additionally: a strong upper ridge is in place across Indiana and the Great Lakes, while a deep trough was found over the western US. The strong ridge in place over Indiana is expected to shift to the east coast late today and tonight. Meanwhile the troughing in place over the western CONUS is expected to develop into more of a cut-off low tonight, parked over the southwestern states. Models suggest that upper low could push to the upper Midwest by Tuesday before becoming more entwined with the upper flow and pushing a pair of short waves across Central Indiana. The first wave looks to pass on Tuesday, with what is left of the upper low, and a secondary wave passes on Wednesday as the upper flow becomes more northwesterly. Moisture will be an issue for these systems. Gulf moisture fails to arrives as high pressure across the deep south appears to block that flow. However, a strong cold front is shown to accompany the second wave. Thus with each of these features, small chances for rain seem valid at this time. Any precipitation amounts should remain rather light. Here’s one look at the precipitation totals through the next week.
