Hurricane Francine should make landfall in Louisiana this afternoon or evening. After landfall, the center is expected to move northward across Mississippi on Thursday and Thursday night. The center of the remnants stay well southwest and west of us, so: lots of clouds, but little rainfall, especially north of I-71.
Meanwhile: Another dry and quiet day is expected for today as the surface high pressure that has dominated the weather pattern for the last few days will continue to gradually break down as it pushes eastward.
Winds will remain near calm with a predominately easterly direction through much of the day today as the broader surface flow gradually becomes more influenced by the approaching tropical system. Slightly elevated fire weather conditions will return today as dew points are again expected to drop into the upper 30s to low 40s. A little bit of wildfire smoke from Canada/Pacific Northwest fires may dim the sun a bit.
